2012 marks an important milestone for Dimension Data Canada– the team has achieved tremendous success as it celebrates its five year anniversary! We sat down with Wendy Lucas, Dimension Data Canada’s area vice president, to discuss her team’s exceptional growth and the opportunities that lie ahead.
Q: What’s the secret to Dimension Data Canada’s success over the last five years?
Wendy: It’s really all about our amazing team and their unwavering commitment to our corporate mission of putting the client at the center of everything we do. In addition, I think our clients recognize and appreciate the unique depth and breadth of our IT services expertise – the ability to help them plan, implement, manage and support highly-sophisticated information and communications technology environments. This is also evidenced by our ongoing focus on training and partner certifications, such as our recent Professional Services Partner of the Year Award from Cisco .
I’m extremely proud of our team – the outstanding work they do and the results they deliver for our clients have resulted in 30% year-over-year revenue gains here in Canada. Our success and solid results have positively impacted Dimension Data Americas’ overall growth as well.
Q: Tell us about your growth plans in Canada?
Wendy: The strong demand we’re seeing from clients has put us on a very exciting growth trajectory. Based on this, we’re planning to grow our employee base by at least 50% this year alone. We’re also aggressively expanding our geographic footprint – from our original headquarters in Mississauga, Ontario to the Ottawa and western Canada areas.
Additionally, the Canadian federal market is an upcoming area of focus for us. We recently became an approved Cisco federal solutions provider, which will help us to ramp up efforts in this sector.
Q: What emerging technology areas do you expect to see driving client demands in the year ahead?
Wendy: In terms of general trends, we’re seeing more organizations throughout Canada considering IT-as-a-Service and Software-as-a-Service, and also struggling to manage the complex challenges of increasing workforce mobility and BYOD.
As a result, following our global cloud services launch earlier this year, we’ll be very focused on helping clients assess their cloud readiness and determine what type of deployment best fits their specific needs – whether that’s a private, public or hybrid cloud and whether it’s a fully-managed or self-managed solution that is needed. In addition, we’ll be guiding client mobility, video, and unified communications efforts with our managed communications services, including telecom and mobile expense management (TEM/MEM), and our new Managed Service for Visual Communications (MSVC).
