When you hear the term workspaces for tomorrow, do you think it’s something futuristic, something still to occur in the distant future? Well, not quite. Given recent mobility and work style trends, the need to create workspaces for tomorrow is already here today. ‘New age’ mobility devices like smartphones and tablets are already outnumbering ‘traditional’ PCs in the workplace. That’s because our work styles and preferences have changed thanks to the tools we use. Now it’s up to our workspaces to accommodate those choices and to help us be more effective and efficient at what we do, no matter where we work or what tools we use to do so. But, at the moment, they’re not.

A part of the answer could, again, be technology. It’s the binding force, the ‘glue’, which can bring together all our new work styles, tools, and spaces. It’s important to keep in mind that we’re not just talking about enterprise mobility and employees working remotely. Those too, yes, but we shouldn’t forget about the people who need to work on-site, every day. They also need technology to connect their various work activities with the most effective tools and spaces at the office, or the factory, or the shop floor. The question is, which technologies should you choose and how should you go about implementing them?

We have a few thoughts and suggestions that might prove helpful. Read this latest thinking article on the role of technology in creating workspaces for tomorrow.
